WATER
River 09/08/25
Rivers of song and sound
Rhythm and speech collide
Pain that was not once, but twice
Hurts over and over and over again
Rhythm that never ends
Songs that slowly die
Fade into one another
Over and over and over again
I write the same lines
I sing the same songs
My heart calls to the rhythm of longing
Belonging but never once
But calling out all the same
Over and over and over again
No sound
No home
No song
Or beat
Just the sound of silence underneath my feet
And peace like a river runs through my mind
Leaving the old song behind
Limbs and hair thrash around
The wind is now my soul and dance
Wailing not singing,
Voice fueled by coal, so harsh
Its ringing, feet singed
Soul falling
Floating, swimming
Head spinning
Let me out
