Yielding to the soil beneath me
I surrender to the tree holding my spine
My toes sink into the mud
I feel myself carried away by a flood
A flood, a storm of wind and leaves and love and blood
A flood, a storm, a tempest
A drum that beats against my chest
As pellets of rain meld into my skin
I wonder, from where did the storm begin?
I am unyielding, I am strong, I cannot be undone
Yet I am bruised and I am battered
Until I allow my soul to return to the trees and to the soil
Until I allow the flood to carry me home
I will forever be bound by a storm
